I straighten up at that, leaning back now and frowning very slightly at him. "Starting to doubt yourself how?"

".. Almost that everyday she's gone... maybe, maybe I don't love her as much as I think I do." I said quietly, glancing over to her again, frowning a little bit.

I bite my lip again, harder, and wonder very briefly how it's possible to feel a small flare of hope and nausea at the same time. "That can happen when you haven't seen someone in a while...." I say slowly, ignoring the hopeful part. "You forget how much you care. But it isn't really... you shouldn't necessarily trust it."

I looked at her as she spoke, wondering if what she was saying was true. Or well, true to this situation. Maybe she was right. "I guess that could be it.." I said quietly, running a hand through my hair slightly for a moment. "And it doesn't help that when I do see her, we get in fights.. she just.." I paused for a moment with a small frown. ".. makes things harder sometimes." I added quieter than I had been talking.

I shrug very slightly, looking down at my interlaced hands and biting my lip again before I can say anything. Not that what I do say is terribly enlightening. "I guess... I just don't know." I shrug again, looking up. "I don't know."

I nodded slightly, "I'm not expecting you to." I said quietly with a faint shrug. I paused for a few moments and then looked over to her with a faint smile. "It's okay... I'll figure it out."

"Yeah, but I guess I am...." I laugh very faintly, shaking my head. "Expecting myself to know, that is. But... yeah... you'll figure it out." I smile faintly back, suppressing the urge to squeeze his hand or something like that by crossing my arms tightly. "Good luck."

"Why should you know though?" I asked her with faint smile and laugh. I nodded slightly a moment later, letting out a small sigh. ".. Thanks.. I'll probably need it.. especially if the girls start asking questions.. I don't know what I should be telling them." I thought outloud with another sigh with a glance over to her. "Not that you should know that either." I added with a small chuckle.

I laugh very faintly again, shrugging and relaxing just a bit as I do so. "Because... it's what I do. Has been for as long as I've been me, instead of the old me. This is the me that fixes people, but she can't really do that if she doesn't know...."

I smiled a little bit, looking over to her, "But you don't have to fix everybody." I said with a small shrug. "It's not your responsibility.. but you probably do a better job than you think." I added with a small smile.

"Perhaps." I shrug again, smiling faintly. "But never mind...."

I shrugged a little bit, smiling faintly back to her. "Okay.." I said quietly, glancing back down to my tea for a moment. "So um.. What've you been up to? The last few months, I mean."

"Not a whole hell of a lot...." I shrug slightly, dropping my eyes to the floor. "Just... a lot of thinking. Lot of writing." I laugh slightly. "I've practically written a book of semi-coherent musings about everything I could think of."

I looked over to her as she dropped her eyes to the floor and nodded a bit. I laughed a little at what she said, smiling a bit over to her. "Well that's something.. I'm not sure what musings of everything consists of, but I bet it's good." I smiled, nudging her arm faintly.

"Or complete gibberish...." I laugh slightly, nudging him back. "I'd start off trying to write about everything I can remember from the day I started over, and wind up asking a bunch of completely rhetorical questions about the nature of the universe."

I laughed a little bit. "Sounds interesting." I said smiling lightly as she nudged me back. "I'm kind of curious.. kind of wanna read it." I told her glancing to her again. "Like how the secret of the universe is baking?" I asked witha small alugh.

No you don't. It was just something I did to use up time while I was being a coward. I'm shaking my head slowly, about to say a slightly more tactful version of this, when he asks his last question and a smile breaks out spontaneously. "Yes, Riley, that...." I laugh slightly, giving an exaggerated nod. "I think I covered that in the same chapter as friendly chimaeras and... flying pigs."

I grinned lightly to her, laughing a little bit. "That, is the chapter I want to read." I said nodding a bit. I laughed a little more as I thought about it. ".. Man we were weird.."

I smiled with a small laugh. "Thanks.. I can't wait." I said with a small nod, still smiling. "Yeah.. but I have to admit I was expecting you to say that I still am." I said with a slight chuckle.

"I probably would have then." I laugh slightly. "But... mm... I'm afraid I've started to see you as at least a little sane. Sorry."

I smiled lightly with a small laugh, "Really? Sane?" I asked raising one of my eyebrows faintly. "Can I get that in writing?" I asked her, still smiling lightly.

"Thank you, very kind." I have roll my eyes, half smile at him, then shrug and look down at the floor. "So... how about you? I mean... other than the recent unpleasantness, what've you been up to?"

"You're very welcome." I said smiling lightly back to her before taking another sip of my tea, which was starting to get cold and really didn't taste too good. "Um.. All I do is work, take care of the kids and sometimes I sleep." I told her with a faint chuckle. "Got another job actually."

"Over at Mungos.. a friend pulled some strings for me.. So I've been working part time over there." I said with a small nod as Arden leaned forward slightly on the countertop again.

"A little.. when I'm not getting woken by Justin.. or keeping the girls out of trouble.. or working obviously.." I said shaking my head a little bit. "I was because we were short on money... and now that Riyann's basically disapeared, I'm just as well a single parent." I said with a slightly sigh. "Honestly, I could probably drop one of the jobs now if I had to.. I dunno."
