I bite my lip briefly, hesitating before giving a reply... but it doesn't take too long to realize that regardless of my initial uncertainty about why I came back, maybe that tiny part of my brain that decided to make me knock on the door was actually right. "Sure," I shrug, smiling faintly and moving forward to give him a hug. "It's definitely been a while."

"Thanks.." I said with a small smile before hugging her lightly back for a few moments before letting go. "It has been a while." I repeated with a faint nod. I was happy that she did hug me but at the same time, I was slightly surprised that she did.

"Yeah...." I nod again, crossing my arms. Long enough for all the... weirdness... to not be here anymore? I hope so. "So can I see the small ones then?" I ask, smiling faintly.

I smiled a bit and nodded again, "Yeah, hopefully they're still in the kitchen." I said before starting to make my way back to the kitchen, glancing back to Arden to make sure she was following me. The kitchen came into view and then so did the girls. They heard footsteps and looked up to see the two of us. They both smiled brightly when they saw Arden. "Auntie Arden!" They both said, nearly at the same time before they both got out of their seats and went to hug her. I had to admit though, them saying that at the same time sounded pretty weird. It still creeped me out how they did that.

I step back slightly, startled by the suddenness and enthusiasm of their greeting, then force a laugh so they don't think I'm too alarmed. I really do hope that all these years of building up an immunity to children hasn't gone away in just a few months. "Hello yourselves...." I laugh again slightly. "Should I do something cliche now, like pinch your cheeks and tell you how much you've grown?"

I watch Arden step back a bit and laugh faintly to myself with a small smile as I watched the scene play out. The girls cringed slightly at what she said and they both shook their heads. "Please don't.." Lottie said first with a small giggle. "We get enough of that from Grandmum." Ella added, finishing Lottie's sentance. Just then, Justin started crying and hearing it through the monitar, I sighed a bit. "I'll be back.. you guys.. catch up.. or something." I said with a smile before backing out of the room and leaving Arden there with the girls.

I nod semi-distractedly at Riley before he leaves the room, looking back and smiling at the girls again while I make my way over to a chair. I feel very tall, but they're not small enough anymore that I can kneel down or something, so I guess I have to sit. "I guess I could show mercy on you then. So what've you been up to?"

The girls smile back to Arden and once she sits down the girls decide they'd rather still be sitting down too and take their seats again. They both shrugged at her question. "Nothing really actually.." Lottie said kind of thoughtfully, a look on her face showing that maybe she was trying to think if she'd actually done something. "Just kind of sit around.. dad says we can't go see our friends and since mum isn't around there isn't anyone else to ask." Ella said with another shrug. "Thought about sneaking out.." Lottie added only to have Ella finish her senstance again, "But I think dad might kill us." She said with a wise nod.

"Painfully," I nod, keeping my face perfectly solemn. "Probably dismember you, too."I pause for a beat, then continue. "But, in all honesty... please don't. If you're dad wants you to stay put, you probably should. And if you get bored, try to learn to send each other messages with your minds."

Both the girls giggled slightly when Arden said painfully and then they both sighed a bit, still smiling. They both shrugged a little a seocnd later, "I guess we won't... plus, then he'd tell mum." Lottie said nodding as Ella picked up her sentance, "And that would not be good. If dad's going to kill us painfully, I can't imagine what mum would do." She said cringing a bit and shaking her head. Both of their eyes brightened a bit when Arden mentioned messages and she had their full attention, which was sort of rare sometimes. "Can you tell us how?" Ella said, sounding very hopeful that maybe she knew.

"Mm...." I tilt my head in what I suppose is agreement. I don't think I ever have actually seen Riley get mad at them. I laugh slightly again at what Ella asks next, shaking my head. "No... of course not. You can't really learn to do it until you figure it out for yourself."

Their faces fell slightly at the news that they had to do it themselves, but at least it was going to give them something to do. Their minds were just filling up with all the things that they could possibly do if they could send eachother messages. And it couldn't be too hard, right? I mean, they already finish eachothers sentances. So that's when the two of them shrugged. "At least now we'll have something to keep us occupied." Ella said smiling lightly with a small nod to Lottie. Lottie smiled back and nodded. "Yep." She said in response. "Can you do that with anyone, Arden?" Lottie asked her turning toward her a bit to face her. "Send messages, I mean."

"Sadly, no," I say, shaking my head regretfully. "I didn't meet my sister 'til I was sixteen, so we never really got much chance to practice. Wish I could though." I smile slightly, feeling triumphant that I've managed to give them something top do, and only slightly guilty over the fact that I doubt it's even possible to learn how to do that. At least they won't be bored.

"That sucks.." Ella and Lottie said nearly at the same time, kind of sadly. "Well.. can't you still learn?" Lottie asked her after another moment.
[[ ahh, shortness... xD ... sorry... should riley come back soon? ]]

"No, I think I'm too old," I shrug, shaking my head. "But it's all right. I can... roll my tongue." I shrug faintly, demonstrating this, after coming up blank for any other talents. I'm starting to wonder where Riley's gone off to, but I suppose babies take a lot of maintenance.
((Is okay... and if he wants? *shrug*))

"You're not too old, Arden." Ella said with a small giggle, smiling lightly. They both laughed a bit more when she said she could roll her tongue. "See, I can do that too." Lottie said, then demonstrating it too after Arden did, but she in reality only thought she could roll her tongue. Really she was just sticking it out. I walked back inside the kitchen, holding Justin now and laughing a little as I saw Lottie. "Me too." Ella said trying it now as well, but also failing. "What're you guys up to?" I asked laughing a little bit more, smiling lightly at the three of them.
[ eh, haha *shrugs* ]

"Well, I am for that," I shrug, then try unsuccessfully to squelch a smile when they both stick their tongues out, laughing slightly and nodding. "Impressive...." At this point I turn, hearing Riley in the doorway, and shrug again. "I think we're having a talent show... I don't know. Anything you can do?"

They both giggle and nodded enthusically. "Yes.. we thought so too." Ella said, grinning. I laughed a little bit again, turning my attention to Arden now that she asked me a question. "Um.." I said smiled, shaking my head faintly. "I can... erm... roll my tongue.. and cross my eyes." I said nodding a bit with a smile as I sat down at the table with Justin.

"You can not," I retort automatically, shaking my head. "It's supposed to be genetic, for one... and also you just can't be that cool."

"Yeah I can." I said laughing a little bit. "It is genetic, but since me and Riyann both can roll our tongues there's a one in three chance that they can't." I said grinning lightly to her and then sticking my tongue out and rolling it for her. "And who says I'm not cool?" I asked, only to have the girls start laughing.

Both of the girls gasped, "We did not." They said laughing a little bit, letting out a few giggles. I laughed a little bit, "I'm not ugly.. Arden, do you think I'm ugly too?" I asked smiling and laughing a little bit.

I grinned lighlty and nodded, "Yes, I do." I said with a small laugh. "But we never said anything." Lottie said, giggling a little bit, shaking her head, Ella shaking her head too with a small grin.

"That doesn't mean you weren't thinking it," I shrug, rolling my tongue at the girls again and then smiling. I ignore Riley's reply, which is about when I realize that I've already been ignoring someone else in the room. "So... this is... Justin, was it?" I ask kind of abruptly, tilting my head at the baby. It seems abrupt to me anyway.

The girls laughed a little bit but stayed quiet, both of them giving a small shrug. I raised my eyebrows slightly with a small laugh and shook my head a little bit. When I heard what Arden said next, I got slightly thrown off since I wasn't expecting it and then nodded with a smile to her. "Yeah, this's him." I smiled, "Wanna hold him?"

"Ah... sure." I eye the kid hesitantly, a little bit taken aback, and remind myself that I've certainly held babies before so there's no need to be weird about it. "How old is he again?"

I smiled and stood up walking closer to her so I could hand him off, chuckling faintly to myself from the way she looked at him. "Um.. about six months now." I told her with the same small smile.

"Cute." I smile slightly, tilting my head to the side as I take him from Riley. I think I missed Melody's birthday. I know that I missed Micheal's. And also I think that the vaguely uneasy sort of feeling I've had ever since Riley mentioned Justin might potentially be something like jealousy. I close my eyes briefly, willing myself not to feel like I want to cry. Was the whole disappearing act for nothing?

I smiled and nodded a little bit as I handed him over to her. "Thanks.. I think so too." I said a moment before heading back to where I was sitting. I watched her close her eyes for a moment after I sat down and watched her closely for a second. "You okay, Arden?" I asked a few seconds later.
