Not fair [mason]

Sitting in the living room Zoe knew that this was the complete opposite of fair. She was having to wait on him[/]i to bring her daughter to see her.
Not fair.
Because of that stupid court he got custody of Kalin because Zoe hadn't quiet figured out where she was going to live exactly and seeing as she was 16 having a good income wasn't that easy to find.
I can't put her to bed every night. I can't be there to feed her. I cann't be there for anything unless it was all cramed into the three days a week that I could see her. And it was only in the day for a couple of hours.
Not fair.
Looking up at the clock Zoe clicked her tounge.
"He better not be late.." She muttered.

I honestly had not wanted to bring it to court, but the fact that I wasn't going to ever really get to see his daughter, that was what made me do it. Yeah, bet Meilana's going to love the fact that you just took custody of her best friend's daughter.
I'd only been to this house once, and really, I hadn't much liked it that first time, then again I don't think it was really anyone's fault, just the fact that he'd been unhappy with Shelby and the fact that Kalin wasn't there. None the less I knocked on the door, about ten minutes early with Kalin in my arms and her baby bag on my shoulder. Really, it wasn't that bad to have her, now I was on my own, living in a fair apartment, working in Hogsmeade and taking money from Gringotts when I needed, and I didn't have to worry about marrying my bloody cousin. Though it sounded like I was only using Kalin for all of that, but I wasn't, it was really one of the greatest things.
Yet I've still got to feel guilty.
My eyes were on Kalin as I waited for someone to open the door, a small smile on my lips as I looked down at the sleeping girl.

Zoe was slightly pleased with him and saw that he was ten minutes early. She wasted no time before jumping up and going to the door seeing him and Kalin. A wide smile came to her face, but not because of him. Just seeing her daughter made her so happy. She held out her arms slightly wanting to hold Kalin, still worldless.
It was still easy to tell that Zoe was filled with hate and disgust for Mason though.

The door was really open in almost no time after I had knocked, but I hadn't cared, it might mean the less time I had to stay there, though it didn't. We did have to talk somethings through, at some point, act more like adults instead of silly children. "Here." I whispered softly, handing Kalin over carefully to Zoe's arms that were held out for her.
"Uhm," I started, unsure on how to get the words out, because really, she hated my guts, but still, she wouldn't quite after I figured out how to say what I was going too.

Zoe's smile just got bigger as she held Kalin close to her and kissed the top of the babys head taking in the unique, sweet smell that all babys had. Zoe stepped aside so that she could let him. She would love to just let him stand out there the whole time but she couldn't. Zoe raised an eyebrow. "You seem like you have something to say." She said stiffly.

I was slightly surprised when she stepped aside, but I didn't let it show, just watched as she held Kalin closer to her. Stepping in I took my eyes from them and looked around as much of the house as I could from where I was, really not quite sure why. "Uh, yeah." I said, shaking a little, ignoring her stiff tone and turning to look at her. Automatically one of my hands moved up and I scratched the back of my neck slightly. "Working a little more now and I figured you might want to, you know, watch over Kalin when I am working." I said, raising an eyebrow towards her, really not wanting to ask that, but it gave her more time to see her daughter. "It's just during the weak for a few hours after school, but if you don't want to I can always find someone else." I shrugged a little, knowing she'd probably take the deal as it was.

Her first thought was to grin and nod her head over and over and just scream yes, but this guy was practically her enemy. No emotion could be shown. "What's the catch?" She asked cautiosly, but knowing her self controlw as wearing thin just at the thought of it.

It was almost tempting to laugh when she suddenly asked what the catch was and I just shrugged. "Nevermind I guess." I could just feel a smirk spreading it's way across my lips. "I'm sure I could find someone or just bring her to work with me. Dunno why I asked." Really I just wanted to see her reaction, no matter how much I hated her, it would be something to see.

Zoe let a small smile appear on her lips, but knew that it was probably to much. For her to show any other emotion than pure anger must mean that she is really, really happy. "Cous i would love to. Thank you."

[Mason Jay Bradley]

"Catch is you'd have to come pick her up." Which I'm guessing wouldn't be too horrible for her.

[Zoe Henderson]

Zoe managed to let out a small little chuckle, then looked down hoping to mask it. "That can be done" She said trying to get her face back to the small smile. She was so happy at the moment. "Have I missed anything?"

[Mason Jay Bradley]

Even if she didn't seem to want me to hear the small chuckle I still heard it and nodded with a small and faint laugh. "You know where to go?" I asked, raising an eyebrow, knowing she didn't. "No, not really." I said softly, shaking my head a little.

[Zoe Henderson]

Zoe shook her head. "Uhh..No not really." She said, then nodded. "I'm missed you so much.." She mummered down into Kalins ear.

[Mason Jay Bradley]

"I'll show you later I guess." I shrugged a little, doubting she'd want to go now and leave her own home to come see where I lived. My eyes fell on her and Kalin again as she leaned down to Kalin's ear and said something to her, and then I took them away, feeling even more out of place than the last time.

[Zoe Henderson]

Zoe stood there a few more moments just holding Kalin close to her rocking her back and forth a bit. "We have to work something better out," She mutters loud enough for Mason to hear. "I can't standbeing away from her."

[Mason Jay Bradley]

Should've thought of that sooner. I didn't comment though, just nodded a little as I looked around the room, keeping my eyes from both my daughter and her mum.

[Zoe Henderson]

Zoe sighed softly then walked torwards the living room. "Come on," She muttered to him.

[Mason Jay Bradley]

Hearing her sigh brought my eyes right back to her before she spoke, seeing her walking away and towards the living room. I followed witha small nod. "Alright."

[Zoe Henderson]

Zoe sat down on the couch and nodded for him to sit down next to her. "If we're both mature enough to have a child together then we should be mature enough to figure out how we both can see Kalin enough." She muttered. She wasn't really saying to him, but really to the both of them. She still- well it's going down to a dislike, for taking it this far, but her walls were down and maybe they could come to something.

Really the only thing that was going through my mind was the fact that I had been trying that before, only she wouldn't let that happen, and should I try and figure it out with her? Or just say no. "And what do you suggest?" I asked, though not saying that anything was going to change.

[Zoe Henderson]

Zoe couldn't help but shrug lightly. "I don't know, really." She said, "But I can't stand being away from her. I'll do anything just so I can be there with her." She said watching Kalin open her eyes only to see Masons eyes on Kalin.

"You really think I want to spend any time away from her?" I asked, turning my eyes to Zoe now. And the only thing that I could think of was living together, which was definitely not going to happen, now or ever. Not without one of not killing the other.

[Zoe Henderson]

"Well that's what your putting me through." Zoe said fiercely but quietly just looking up at and without thinking pulled Kalin closer to herself and laid the little girls head on her chest. Zoe stroked her hair softly, knowing that she never wanted to let her go.

"And it's what you were doing to me. We didn't even have a schedule as to when I would get to see her, just whenever I'd run into you, and that didn't much happen." I said, throwing that back at her. "Do you have a suggestion of what to do or not?" Because mine will go unsaid.

[Zoe Henderson]

"Mason please," Zoe begs, "This is my daughter. My baby girl, I need to be with her. I'll do anything, please Mason, please. Just help me out this one time."

[Mason Jay Bradley]

I'm not entirely sure if it's registering that she's begging or if she just isn't understanding that I'm asking her to give me an idea of what to do, whichever it was almost guilting me into saying she could stay at the apartment with me, which was something I was more then positive I didn't want to happen.

[Zoe Henderson]

"I don't care what you do, just let me be with her more." She mutters. "I just got fired from my job and I'm not living here anymore. This has got to be you to help me out." She admitted to him. "Just help me. I'll do anything."

[Mason Jay Bradley]

Now it sounded like she was begging me to have her live with me and I ran a hand through my hair. "Fuck." I muttered, almost feeling like she was going to say something about it because Kalin was in the room. "Are you suggesting you come and live with me?" I asked, almost not believing it, because one she hates me, two I really can't deal with that, I don't think I can.

Finally.
Slowly nodding, Zoe knew that doing that was one of the hardest things she had to do. She never thought that she would be able to swallow her pride like that but Zoe knew that she would do anything just to be with her daughter. "Unless you can think of something better,"

She really can't be serious, can she? I watched her as she nodded slowly and I shook my head a little before looking down at the Kalin. It would make things easier, not having to bring her over to Zoe and not see her for a while, but that didn't mean I wanted to. "O-only for Kalin." I said after a moment, barely even glancing up at Zoe as I spoke.
