What is a hero?
The literal definition of a hero is this: one greatly regarded for achievments or qualities; principal character in story.
This is no story.
In an obscure area of English country side, there is a valley. In the valley is a town, known as Chesil Valley. It's not the best; but it's home.
Home to all of us.
Sometime in the early years of the 21st Century, we started popping up all over the place. The next link in the evolutionary chain? Genetic mutants?
We don't know. No one really did.
Out of sight, out of mind.
Or so the saying goes. We weren't a threat, quite the opposite, but you know how humanity is with drastic change.
They rounded us all up and took us to Chesil Valley, then they took it off the map and left us here to fend for ourselves.
Why?
Because we're too different, too advanced for them to understand.
We can make things happen, we can make people hurt, we can save people, whatever we can do with our extraordinary gifts...we're not welcome as long as we have them.
We didn't choose to be talented. We didn't choose to have abilities.
We didn't choose to have superpowers...can you believe it? We have superpowers.
No one ever asks to be a hero.
That's what we are. Like comic books, old movies, fairy tales...but this is no story.
We're living breathing heroes...and we've been exiled because of it.
What is a hero?
We are.
