Sitting in the windowseat, Shell smiles lightly to herself enjoying the rainfall. Yes she was still upset about Jay, yes she wished he was still here, but she had to start picking up her life pieces. She couldn't live on that forever. Pulling her legs up to her chest she starts humming softly watching the raindrops hit the windows gently until she heard a huge crash in the dining room.
All she does is wince and walk to the dining room to see what was broken. It seemed normal now any when something broke. After all, there was ten kids in this house. It was just bound to happen. "Okay, who did it?" she asks with a straight face, noticing one of the candlesticks shattered on the ground along with it's glass holder. The other one was knocked over with the candle broke almost in half. With the evidence, a shoe on the table. Someone obviously was aiming for someone else but clearly missed.
Standing with her hands on her hips she walks into the kitchen spotting all of them just sitting there quiet with smiles, but they were avoiding eye contact with her. "Come on now, I know candles can't mysteriously get broken and shoes aren't a good centerpiece." she says with a sigh as they just continued to eat their snacks.

The room was quite for a moment. Someone had to speak up, so Julia decided she would. Julia closed the book she was trying to read, and looked up. “Typical. Right away you go accuse one of us.” Julia said. “Accidents do happen you know?” When being accused Julia liked to turn it around of the accuser, even when it had nothing to do with her. “Have you no faith in us? Do you not believe us? Because that hurts right here.” Julia added placing a hand over her heart.
Julia knew who did it, but she would never say. Julia had seen because she wasn’t really reading the book at all, in fact, Julia hated to read. The book was so she would look busy when Shelby walked in. Julia hoped no one else would tell, after all, this should fall under the category of sibling loyalty.

Ash, tried not to laugh or cry she couldn't believe what she had just done. Out of all the kids she in her opinion was the most behaved. If only Jenny hadn't of ducked, it would smacked her right in the face. She thought as she hid her left shoeless foot from her mother's site. She let her mind began to think of what sort of punishment she would receive for the crime she had committed. She should just give herself in and get it over with. No matter what the punishment was she was sort of glad her shoe almost hit Jenny. She took a step forward and grinned innocently."Um....it was me."She said sticking her shoeless foot out in front of her.

Shell glances at Julia and raises an eyebrow. "Yes I know accidents happen, but two candlesticks just don't fall over with a shoe laying there on the table." she says with a sigh hating when they would use sibling loyalty against her. Of course Shell did the same with her sisters growing up but she hated it now.
Hearing someone admitting to the crime she turns around and notices Ashlyn was missing a shoe. "Yeah, nice try there sweetie. Where did you hide your shoe? I know you protect your siblings as often as you can, but please tell me who did it."

She looks at her mouth practically hanging open. She couldn't believe what she had just heard."B-but mom....I am telling the truth."She nods walking over to get her shoe off the table. Holding it against her other shoe."See perfect match, its not like I would purposely hide my shoe and lie to you....I'm nothing like Jenny."She says trying to hide a small smirk.

Jenny gasps, crossing her arms over her chest tempted to give her the infamous finger that she learned from Briar. "That's not nice Ash. Why on earth would you ever throw your shoe at candlesticks? Just to see what is like to get in trouble like your siblings or are you a late bloomer for you rebellious stage?"

She couldn't help but laugh seeing Jenny gasp. She quickly turned her attention back to her mother and shook her head."No, that's not it. I didn't mean for anything to break but you can't blame me forgetting a bit angry at Jen."She nods smiling innocently. She bit her tongue when Shelby asked her if she just wanted to know what it was like to get in trouble and it was worse when she asked if she was late bloomer for rebellious stage. She shook her head. "But don't worry about it, I'll get you new candle is this are unfix able."She tells her while she slips her shoe back on and starts cleaning up the mess she had made.

"No, I can't blame you and thank you for taking the responsibility but you won't be leaving this house for a week and no flying either." she nods sternly leaning against the counter as she noticed the kids in shock that Ash actually for once got in trouble let alone grounded.

She turned around looking at her sibling. One thing that this house lacked was silence and at that moment they finally got it. She laughed as she looked at their stunned faces. She raised an eyebrow questionably."What?"She finally asked them. "Yeah, your welcome mom."She sighs thankful that she wasn't locked in her room with out her books. Sure it sucked that she couldn't leave the house and flying was her favorite thing to do besides reading, but whatever she had to pay for what she did. It was to bad she didn't hit Jenny.

They all continue to sit there shaking their head going back to what they were doing. "Don't be thanking me yet. I want all of your books down here on this counter." she nods, with a straight face still. "Then you may go to your room after you clean up the mess."

She looked at them and sighed before she turned back her attention to her mother. She looked at her mother in disbelief. She did not just hear what she think she heard..Did she?"What..?"She asked a bit shocked. She shook her head."No, you can't do this....that's way to to....they were just stupid candles."She said a bit loudly not moving from her spot. "Please mom....don't....how am I going to finish my school work if you take away all my books?"She asked trying not to sound angry.

Shell raises an eyebrow at Ashlyn and sighs. "Are you going to be doing schoolwork or is it pleasure reading?" she asks crossing her arms. "That case you can do your homework in the sunroom while I grade the star charts." she says with a nod. "Remember just your schoolbooks Ash."

She couldn't help but roll her eyes at her mother."Mom, I may be a bookworm...but school books is not one of my preferable things to read."She nods and sighs as she hears her next comment."Okay fine, homework in the sun room it is."She looks at her before she begins cleaning up the mess she made."Yeah, just school work...got it."

Shell nods, walking into the sunroom and sitting down with the pile of star charts and sliding on her glasses. "Okay let's see here..." she says letting out a deep sigh before already taking out her red pen and x'ing out a few mistakes right on the first chart.

Ash sighs and quickly throws everything away, she glares at Jenny, who's laughing about everything that just happened. She runs upstairs and goes right to her school bag. Masking sure everything was in there. Books, paper and quills she closes it and slung it over her shoulder and begins her dreadful walk down stairs to the sunroom. She sets her bag on the floor and takes out her first homework assignment and sits in a chair.

Shell glances over and frowns a bit. "Why did you think throwing your shoe was a good idea exactly?" she asks raising an eyebrow before glancing back at the star chart that was in her lap.

She answers her with out even looking up. Dipping her quill into the ink bottle and she continues writing her answers for her Charms homework. She continues scribbling her answers as she thinks about what she asked her."Why?....because I wasn't thinking clearly. Okay, I freaked...I grabbed the closest thing....it was the first thing that popped into my head."She said laughing to herself.

"It's just so unlike you is all Ash." she says with a smile. "Do you need any help with your homework sweetie?" Shell asks softly, setting her quill down on the side of the couch.

She rolled her eyes softly to herself and cleared her throat before saying anything."yeah, I know...but I'm not perfect mom...even I make mistakes."She glanced up from her homework with a solemn face before smiling."Actually...I just realized I finished my homework....since its not in my book."She nods as she crumples up the doodled parchment paper and closes her book. "You want any help?"

"This is true. Everyone does in their lives. Otherwise we wouldn't learn anything." she nods with a faint smile before sighing lightly. "I could always use help with grading these charts. You do know your summer solstice constellations right?" Shell asks parting the chart stack in half before searching for another red ink quill in her portfolio bag.

She sighs quietly not wanting to admit that Astronomy wasn't her favorite subject, but since she was in her class she always did her assignments first and getting good marks. Hoping it didn't show her dislike for it. She shook her head slightly."Um, sure but not that much."She laughs nervously."But I'm sure I'll get the hang of it...eventually."She grinned.

"Eventually..." she laughs shaking her head. "Well, here's the answer key. Just go off of that and you should be fine." Shell adds handing her some charts and the red ink with a quill so she could start marking if they were wrong, which they usually were.

She smiled.Eventually doesn't mean you have to wait forever."She grinned and nodded, carefully taking the charts to be corrected and the answer key not to forget the red inked quill. She set the things on the chair beside her and grabbed the first cart looking at thoroughly making sure the answers were right and if they weren't she would cross out the ones that were wrong with the red inked quill.

Shell shook her head a bit at her daughter before she started to finish the stack of star charts. "So, you'll be a sixth year this year sweetie. Any idea what you want to do for a career yet?" she asks putting her things away before glancing over at Ashlyn with a smile.

She continued marking off the wrong answer on most of then until she got to the charts that the students were known to her. She saw Melissa's and then she saw her own chart. They were both one of the ones that were free from the red ink. She smiled glad she was doing alright in her mother's class.
It would been somewhat embarrassing if your mother failed you, because you didn't understand the material. She shook her head at those silly thoughts and smiled at her mother when she asked her what she wanted to do.
"I'm not really sure. I maybe want to be a healer like Aunt Andra, or even Riley."She told her. "But then again I also might want to be a professor or even work for the ministry."She told her with a slight shrug."I'm not sure."
