The amount of things that Jon really hated seemed to be growing and growing over the past month or two. There were the big things, like the fact that he's having to take on his son. Which in all seriousness he shouldn't hate, but he does and that is that. Then there's his brother-in-law Jack, whom he has never gotten along with so good but now lately that Jack has seemed to be pulling the disappearing acts more often lately weather ir be work of God knows what else. But anyway, Jon hates Jack now to.
But there are also the small things that Jon hates. Like when his son first arrived the fact that he ahd the same name as Jon himself and that has made things so much more confuseing at times. There's over the past few weeks, because of the mass of children that are now in the home since Jon and Jon Jr., Rose and Jon have just been calling him David, moved in Jon hasn't gotten a decent amount of sleep. Then the fact that he has to work now instead of just living off bread crumbs because he has another life to look after now. But more recently, Jon has hated the fact that his son is so blunt with things. Now see, when Jon had first expected to see his son he didn't think anything with meaning would come out of that little boys mouth or something along those lines. But Jon didn't expect it to be 'You have a big nose', and, 'Mum was right.' Jon really wished that he would have elaborated a bit on the 'Mum was right' because it's beene ating away at him on what Jennifer had been right about.
But as of right now, Jon really hates his job. He hates the fact that right now he has to go and tell his partners husband that somehow Mrs. Emma Saunders has gone missing. Lose without a trace. Yes, there was a bit a battle you can say. Yes, Jon got hurt and he'd assume Emma did also. No, there was no body of hers. No, him and Emma didn't arrest all of them. Four fugtives, known to have been Death Eaters while He was in power, are still out on the loose. Jon's first assumption was that they had taken her with them or something of the sort. "Let's not tell David that..." Jon mumbled to himsel walking up the drive and right up to the door. Jon really was dreading this. David was Jon's friend, in a sense. They joked around a bit and chatted sometimes seeing as Jack was one of Davids best friends, and Jack and Jon are technically speaking brothers, and plus David had dated Rose while in school so the two know each other. So that should make it easier on David, Jon supposed seeing as this would with out a shawdow of a doubt have a bad effect. Sighing softly Jon looks around the dark area and can't even bother to see what the time is. It's probably late seeing as he has been out serching for Emma. "Oh I don't want to do this..." Jon mumbles knocking on the door again. Jon knew he had to though. He was already here and besides, best David find out from Jon now instead of letting his imagnation take over because Emma still hasn't come back, or for him to find out at work the next day. Yes, this is for the best.

"Hayden, put your brother down," David spoke absently over his shoulder on the way to the front door. It was starting to get late, which meant the kids should be starting to get to bed, which meant that Emma should be home, which meant that David was already starting to worry. He had tried to get them to start heading upstairs to go to bed, but Josh had led the revolt with the whole 'we want mum' campaign. David hoped Emma would get home soon to put them to bed, because otherwise they'd get no sleep.
Hayden glanced round, before gradually letting go of Josh's arm which he held above his head and letting his little brother slump down to the floor again, before stating with a wide grin, "Daniel did it." "I clearly didn't," Daniel replied, folding his arms across his chest. "Neeeeeeeeenaaaaaaaaaaw!" Josh shot back to his feet, spreading his arms out wide and running around the others in circles. "What's he even doing?" "Who cares?" "Shut him up." "Dad!"
David stopped in the doorway, "Josh, stop it and sit down or you'll go to bed regardless of whether Mum's home or not. Hayden, if you lay a finger on your siblings you'll get the same treatment. Daniella, no one's shutting anyone up. Daniel...uh...carry on with...behaving...good show." He carried on out into the hallway feeling very relieved that this would be over soon. The later Emma worked, the more he worried, and the later the kids ended up going to bed. The later they went to bed, the tireder they got in the mean time and the more loud and active they were in the mean time to compensate. He couldn't imagine why she'd be knocking, unless she forgot or lost her key, but he was pretty sure that the only person who'd even be here at this time would be her.
He pulled open the front door with perhaps too much haste to drown out the persistent yelling of 'neeeeeenaaaaaaw' still coming from the other room and occasional groans from the others - Josh was always the worst at getting hyper when he was tired. Then he frowned very slightly, and very slowly, "Uh...hey Jon. Wasn't expecting you." David was sort of expecting his wife, understandably, and instead he got one of his friends. Not entirely normal. He felt his pulse rocket for a moment before he forced himself to calm down again. He was being irrational, because he'd been worried all evening, that's all.

Jon glanced over David's shoulders and got a sight at all four of the kids. he couldn't help but shudder slightly, still having trouble being around any children whatsoever. But having his son around him 24/7 now almost that was quickly starting to vanish away, just like Rose had said. This will fix you, Rose had said. Jon hated it when she was right.
Looking back at David, Jon shoved his hands in his pocket and looked down for a moment. He was pretty sure that he knew Jon and Emma were partners, and all that. "Uh, David I need a word with you." Jon mumbled. He can almost feel the bags under his eyes. Jon really needed some sleep. "It's urgent," he added. [/blockquote]

He felt his heart sink immediately. More like plummet dramatically to come to a rest somewhere in or below his stomach, he wasn't sure yet. He knew Jon and Emma were partners. But in the same breath he also knew this couldn't be happening. No, this could not be happening not to him, not right now, no. He discounted the fact that Jon and Emma were partners, he discounted the fact that Jon looked like the walking dead, he discounted the fact that he hadn't seen Emma since that morning and that she should have been home hours ago. It was easy to ignore all that, because this could not be happening.
Still, he called over his shoulder, "Daniel, Daniella, you're in charge for a minute. No power struggles," then stepped outside onto the step and pulled the door to behind him. He knew Jon didn't really like kids, so he didn't want to invite him in, and something told he really didn't want his kids to be overhearing this - which was ridiculous of course as it wasn't even happening - but maybe it was sensible to have a word out here. "What's wrong?" He asked, and his voice sounded so much quieter than it normally would, than it really should, because he had no right to sound so quiet.

Jon ran a hand through his hair. He had no idea how he was going to even begin to try and tell David this. Jon was half tempted to just say that Emma was still at the office and she had said that she wanted Jon to tell her something, but that was already out because jon couldn't think up anything that Emma would want Jon to tell David that quick and Jon already ruined his plan before he even thought of it with the fact that he ahd said 'It's urgent'.
"Emma and I had been called out around noon. Just a simple arrest of a few men," Jon started still not being able to look David in the eye. "The head of the department said that it was nothing..." Jon paused. "There was more than we thought and they had been playing dirty and-..." Jon stopped knowing that he was probably makign matters worse by describing it. Jon looked back up at David. "There's no trace of her David. None. None of her clothing, I found her wand but it was snapped in half. There's no body. Nothing..." Jon trailed off looking down again. "I've been serching for her all day. She's just gone. Emma's gone." Jon finished. He knew that he probably shouldn't just say missing because Jon knew that there was a chance that Emma was probably dead.

David's fist clenched on the door handle which he'd kept hold of throughout that very rambling explanation. He had a sudden urge to tell Jon that he wasn't very good at breaking news to people. Which was strange because his wife was missing and he thought that maybe he might think something more...well, not something so trivial. Maybe he was still waiting for the bomb to completely hit.
He waited a couple of seconds for it to sink in, then realised that everything was very dark and that he'd apparently closed his eyes as if this might help. Opening them didn't really help either, as Jon was still standing in front of him with that same expression and his eyes still averted. "No, sh-..." He breathed, then stopped, realising he didn't know what he was going to say, let alone whether it would make sense or not.

Jon stood there watching David. After a few moments Jon reached into his coat pocket and pulled out Emma's broken wand and held it out to him. "Uh-...Here." Jon said roughly still keeping his gaze to the ground. Jon knew that he should be looking David in the eyes after dropping such a bomb, but he couldn't.
"We'll find her." Jon mumbled under his breath glancing up at David for half a second. Jon could tell that he probably should have let someone else tell David about this. But Jon felt some sort of need, seeing as Emma was his partner and they were supposed to look out for each other. And you can seehow well I did, Jon thought to himself. "I'm so sorry David." Jon added knowing that it wouldn't help anything. [/blockquote]

David was struck by the very random thought that the last thing he'd said to Emma this morning was something incredibly stupid. He couldn't remember what, but he knew he'd teased her about the fact that she had to work and he had a day off, and he'd said some stupid teasing comment, when he should have said something...better. He should be prepared for the worst, he'd let his guard slip, and now what could be the last words he'd ever say to his wife would be some stupid throwaway comment he'd barely paid attention to.
"Jon," He spoke quite quietly, but in a thoroughly composed and dignified way as he took the wand from him and slipped it into his pocket, "How did this happen? When exactly? Where? Who was involved?"

Jon blinked his eyes a few times trying to remember everything about it. "We left at noon.." He mumbled, "We were going out to arrest Bellatrix Lestrange, her husband and brother-in-law because real proof had come in that they had been Death Eaters except common sense." He said. "We had went to the home, and it was like they knew we were coming. There was so many people there. Most of them fled thinking that we had probably brought more, but Bellatrix and that low stayed along with another woman. Her sister Narcissia I think..." Jon paused. "They started throwing curses and hexes, and past that it's hard to remember. Emma had been dueling with Bellatrix...I saw her get hit by something but I didn't think much of it. Not that I could, but she seemed fine. She kept going and there wasn't much blood so I didn't think that there was much harm." He said nodding just a little.
"Somehow I got knocked out and-..and I blacked out. By the time I woke up everyone was gone and I saw Emma's snapped wand. She hadn't checked back in at the Ministry and she wasn't at any of her friends, and no one else had seen her and she's not here and-..." Jon stopped himseflf rom his rambling again."I'm sorry," Jon said again. [/blockquote]

David felt very very sick. Violently ill in fact, and he moved his hand off the door handle to grip the door frame instead, hunching his shoulders slightly so that he was almost doubling over. He hated the idea of Emma duelling people. He knew that she did - she could hardly be in their profession if she didn't - and he knew that she could take care of herself, but it still made him feel very sick when he thought about it. It made him feel even worse to know that she'd been duelling Bellatrix Lestrange of all people. It suddenly fell on him with crushing force that his wife was dead, probably anyway. God. She was dead. He'd never see her again, not unless he got lucky and they found her body, then maybe he'd get one last glimpse. He shuddered slightly at that, closing his eyes once again, this time to stop the world from spinning. Maybe he'd overestimated his self-control when he'd asked Jon to tell him everything. Dead, dead, dead, dead, dead... "She's dead, isn't she?" David was almost surprised to hear a faint edge to his voice like he could hardly draw breath. He probably shouldn't give up hope so quickly, but now, knowing who was involved, knowing that she'd been hit with something, knowing she'd disappeared without a trace...all evidence pointed to the fact that she was dead. Oh God.

Jon stood there for a few moments rolling on the balls of his feet. There were two choices. tell David that she probably wasn't dead. Emma could take care of herself and that woman kept going and going and there was still hope that she was just wounded out out there somewhere and she could show up home tomorrow morning or maybe in a few hours.
Then Jon could just agree, which was the truth. Giving him false hopes was one of the worst things that he could do. Jon had no idea, but in his years of working with the Order and things like this happening, Emma was in fact probably dead. Letting out a long breath Jon knew he had to make a descision. "Yes, David. Yes Emma is most likely dead." Jon muttered, his voice darker and face even darker. [/blockquote]

His face creased up slightly and he was glad that his head was bent so that Jon couldn't see his facial expression. He had every right to be upset, his wife was-...he had every right to be upset, but he'd grown up in a house full of brothers and therefore the mentality that it was not alright to show any weakness in front of any other male or you'd get the shit beaten out of you. He knew of course that he wouldn't, but the lesson had stuck even if it was false and it only took him a moment to be able to smooth his expression and almost straighten up completely.
"Thank you for telling me," He kept his voice as level as possible, although it still shook violently, "I-...I think I'll go inside now, and I-...I'll see you at work tomorrow." He clung to the small shred of normalcy. And the promise of work tomorrow, work would be there and he could-...he could reverse this somehow. But then his heart sunk even further. How was he supposed to tell the kids this? Daniel and Daniella weren't even his...he'd been there ever since they were born, he'd stuck by them and helped as if they were his own, but they weren't. They were Emma's. Hayden and Josh were still so young, how on earth could he break it to them? They wouldn't understand. Any of this.

Jon knew that he couldn't just leave now. No, there was no way. Jon shook his head and put his hand lightly on David's shoulder then drew his hand back. "Come on...Just go inside, and-..." Jon cut himself off again. What was he suposed to do? David just found out that his wife was missing, probably dead, what in the hell was he supposed to do? "I'll look over the kids. I'll call Rose...She can watch him. We'll go and serch for Emma in the morning. Bright and early." Jon said trying to sound hopeful, because there was still some hope. "We'll get Jack to help us and-...We'll look for her." [/blockquote]

He nodded mutely, simply because he didn't have the will to argue. He'd never been particularly argumentative, but oxygen seemed to have stopped reaching his brain because it wasn't working. Nothing was connecting up and making any sense. He'd been married for eight years, he couldn't see how tomorrow would go because he wouldn't be married anymore. His family would be all broken. He'd never see Emma again. And the kids wouldn't go to bed until she got home. This was going to be hard. Pushing open the door with a sluggish sort of gesture, he took one step over the threshold then stopped, and shook his head. No, no way he could go in there and say anything about this. No way he could lie either. "What do I do?" He was half-speaking to Jon, half-speaking to...well, he didn't know, but the question wasn't directed entirely at him either.

"Just go into the kitchen or-..somewhere" Jon mumbled and looked over to the kid. They were practically a three ring circus. "I'll get them to sleep," He mummers bringing out a little bag filled with money. Reaching into his back pocket and Jon could tell he had a bit of muggle money, whatever that paper money was. Jon knew that Daniel and Daiella wouldn't be so easily persuaded as the younger two.
Walking over to them he shook the bag, "Whoever get's up their their own bed and has the lights out first get's all this." He said looking down at them. Jon had seen the four of them quiet often so he knew that they knew who he was, but Jon wasn't sure if they would go for the bribe. It's been how he's been getting his son to bed every night when Rose has him try it on his own.
Putting his free hand into his pocket Jon could feel more money. It's a good thing because Jon knew that if this did work the one who lost would just get all the others out of bed and Jon would be broke. Money for all of them. [/blockquote]
