i'm finding it's not easy to be perfect.
eye colour; Bright blue
hair colour; Brown
height; 5'11"
other physical traits; He looks quite slight at first glance, but he's well toned and muscular but not excessively. He's got quite strong features and a reasonably thickly set face, and his eyes are often rimmed with black as he has trouble sleeping, so this can make him seem quite intimidating. However, he does smile a lot which sort of ruins that illusion because he looks about 12 when he grins. He often has stubble as he forgets or doesn't have time to shave, and if you look closely enough he's laced with fine burns and scars all over from years of Order service, followed by years of Ministry work. His eyes are probably the most striking thing about him, they're a bright almost unnatural blue flecked with silver, just like every other person in his family. They're a genetic tradition, and he's very proud of it.
clothing style; Charlie never really grew up by most people's standards, and as a result his idea of smart clothes would be clean clothes that don't differ from his usual attire. He's usually wearing jeans, and due to a combination of the forgetful and lazy sides to his nature, he tends to just ignore the fact that most of his jeans are so worn they no longer have knees where they should and are no longer the same colour as they used to be. Claiming that having two children under the age of 10 is both a hazardous and messy occupation, he'll tend to wear very old and faded t-shirts most of the time. He doesn't much care for his appearance, but has been known to make an effort for special occasions, like weddings and funerals and...well, that's about the only two things he'll make an exception for.
what i really meant to say[/font][/blockquote]
is that i'm sorry for the way i am.
good traits;
Charlie is, for the most part, optimistic and bright in nature. He's very cheerful a lot of the time, but when it's genuine he tends to be infectious with it rather than when he's forcing himself to be in a good mood and it'll come across as more pained. He hates to see other people sad and will do anything in his power to fix it, he also hates to see people on their own and therein lies his tendency to talk to strangers. He's very friendly and is fascinated by other people to the point where he could listen to someone talk for hours if he was in the right frame of mind. Chivalrous and protective, Charlie's a gentleman and would go to the ends of the earth for the woman that he loves, his cousins, wife and daughter for instance. He does hold his male relatives in the same high regard, but is a lot more closed up about it and would rather show this affection with insults and bravado. Brave and loyal, he's every bit Gryffindor and he's very proud of it. He's also every bit Speare and just as proud of that.
flaws;
He can be quite thoughtless at times and it seems that he suffers from a grievous lack of tact. He can get quite carried away with pretty much anything and will get so wrapped up in a task or situation that it'll become an obsession. His emotions tend to flit from one extreme to another and he's yet to find a happy medium with any aspect of how he feels. He can be very cold, distant and cruel without even meaning to be, as he'd never do so intentionally...although this also means that he's not aware that he's being so. When he's worried about something, he'll decide on a course of action and will get very set in completing it with the idea stuck in his head that everything will be okay once he's followed through with his original plan. He can be very controlling, strict and almost anal-retentive, but he can also be so relaxed that he'll ignore every sign of danger or something unpleasant...there really is no in between for him. He's quite immature and outlandish at times, and is quite overexcitable which drives some people mad.
habits;
He's been known to go days without speaking to anyone, eating, or sleeping. He's not entirely sure why he does this at times, but it gets stuck in his head that he needs to think something through before he can get on with living and is thus confined to his thoughts solidly for an unhealthy amount of time.
He suffers through bouts of depression, which started in his early teens but grew more pronounced after the death of his daughter when he was 19, and when he's going through one of these spells, he often relies heavily on alcohol. He struggles to stay sober for more than a few hours at a time, and decides that it's best if he stays far away from his family at times like this which leads to brief stints of abandonment on his part.
When he's nervous, upset or angry, he'll stutter and choke on his words which will just get him more upset, nervous or angry until he'll lapse into tense silence which can last for unnecessary amounts of time.

brief history; Charlie was lucky enough to be born into a very kind and well-rounded family. He was the second youngest male of his generation, and therefore came in for a lot of teasing by his brother and male cousins about being the runt, and much as he protested vehemently, he didn't really mind all that much. His parents made sure to treat him and his siblings fairly and he had as much attention as he could ever really want. His childhood was a very happy one. By the time he reached Hogwarts age, his older sisters, Beth and Keira, had already graduated and married, so he grew very close to his brother during his first and second year and relied on him a lot as they were in the same house. Due to the bond they'd developed and also because Davey really had no other obligation or place to go as he was notoriously lazy, his older brother continued to live at home even after he'd graduated. Charlie was grateful for this, but never told him so.
When he was fifteen, his luck of having the peaceful and happy life that some of his peers weren't fortunate enough to ever experience was shattered. No one ever really found out what was wrong with him, whether it was long term or even whether anything could have been done to save him, but Davey died in his sleep during the Christmas holiday's of Charlie's fifth year. He came across the body, but he never ever mentions it out loud, to anyone, full stop.
He kept to himself for a few months, but then became reacquainted with one of his friend's sisters, Grace. They started dating that year, and this put Charlie back into his usual high spirits. They remained a couple for the whole of his sixth year, then broke it off during the summer for a brief spell. This was because Charlie had to get his head around the fact that his Mother...who'd been drifting in and out of depression since Davey's death, had elected to go and live with his sister Bethany in Lille where she'd moved to with her husband and daughter. Charlie refused point blanc to go because he intended to finish his education at Hogwarts and didn't want to leave the rest of his cousins, and it ended with him and his mother no longer on speaking terms. She went to Lille, and his father stayed behind in England for the following year until Charlie was of age, and then went to live with his wife and daughter abroad.
Straight after graduation, Charlie became sort of lost with the big family house all to himself and with no real ambition with what he wanted to do. Not because he needed the money, but simply because he needed to keep himself occupied, he wound up working at the ministry for low pay and long hours. It was at this point that he decided his existence was pretty futile and that he should do something that would make him happy, and got back together with Grace. She fell pregnant pretty soon afterwards, and because it was the right thing to do, they got married, all at the age of 17.
When his daughter was born and he had a family of his own, that was pretty much the high point of his existence since his brother had died.
Most of his cousins were involved in the war, on one side or the other or both, mostly on the Order's side, or so he likes to think. However, he'd never felt the need to get involved in any way and barely even took the threat seriously as the conflict had barely touched on his sheltered life for as long as he could remember. Until, of course, Death Eaters attacked his family. His daughter was killed, and his wife disappeared and he was lead to believe that she was dead. The following year sent him into a very deep depression, to which his only source of relief was joining the Order and doing as much as he could to bring down the side that had cost him everything.
Soon, he found out that he was targetted as well, with quite a high price on his head. Without telling his few remaining family members, as there was no time, he was ushered into faking his own death and then hiding by two less than loyal Death Eaters who were closely linked with some of his other cousins and didn't want to see harm come to him for their sakes. One of these men died about a week before they could return home, and even though it's a decade later, this still weighs heavily on his conscience and he did contemplate not coming home at all at the time.
He's very glad that he did come home, of course, because he was reunited with his wife who had also been in hiding for the past year. Their relationship was very strained after the loss of their daughter, and they fought often, but eventually got back on the right track when Grace fell pregnant again, this time with twins.
This time round, Charlie was determined not to overlook any threat or danger that might befall his family, and they kept the pregnancy a secret for as long as possible and kept Grace as away from people as possible without her going insane. Thankfully, the twins were born safe and healthy, and named after Davey, and Charlie's sister who'd also passed away.
He'd thought that when the twins were born, he might be able to stop worrying so obsessively, but he was wrong and couldn't stand to leave them or his wife alone in the house if he could help it. The danger - in his head - grew up so much to the point where he couldn't sleep because he was afraid they'd be attacked during the night, and he tried to convince his wife to go into hiding. Stubbornly, she declined and said that she intended to stay right where she was, so Charlie spoke to his sister who'd been staying with them for a few months and was planning to return home shortly. He arranged it so that Grace, Davey and Keira would go with Beth back to France when she returned home. Grace was furious with him, but went mostly because she refused to talk to Charlie any longer for betraying her.
He felt a little better now that he believed his family to be safe, even if he was missing out on the first few months of his children's lives and the time he'd missed with his wife. He threw himself with more dedication into Order work as he felt guilty about considering dropping out, and was all set to last out the rest of the war this way, when he received an owl from his frantic sister telling him to get over there as soon as possible. He wasted no time in getting there, and was exasperated no end when he found out that trying to keep his wife safe had just put her in more danger and that she'd been involved in a car accident.
He spent a few months sleeping on his sister's couch, flitting back and forth from the hospital to the house for the whole duration of his stay there, before he begrudgingly took his children and his wife home again. Grace's new lack of mobility meant that she was housebound but also that she had trouble being independant. Charlie stopped taking on as much Order work so he could be at home during the day to care for his family, and spent nights on guard duty and other assignments that he could pick out. They passed the rest of the war in this fashion and managed all to stay safe from that point on, even if the taxing routine left his mark on him permanently and he comes across a lot wearier than he used to.
