eye colour; Blue
hair colour; Black
height; 5'11"
other physical traits; Finley is tall for his age, but if his growing pains are anything to go by then it seems he's going to be standing taller as he progresses through his adolescence. He's very slender, almost skeletal at times as he periodically goes through spells of attempting to starve himself or there simply is no food to be had. His skin is pasty and pale, so white that it's unhealthy. His eyes are bright blue, but his pupils are very wide a lot of the time so his eyes look a lot darker than they are, and he has black hair that is raggedly cut and falls wherever it falls. Due to small bids of rebellion, he has a few piercings. He is supposed to wear glasses as he has poor eye sight, but very rarely does as he's always losing them.
clothing style; Finley's never much cared for clothes, just as he's never much cared for his appearance. He wears whatever fits and is comfortable and appropriate for the weather. His usual style consists of jeans and a plain or faded t-shirt.
what i really meant to say[/font][/blockquote]
is that i'm sorry for the way i am.
good traits;
Soft spoken and polite, on the surface Finley is a quiet, studious gentleman. It's not really just on the surface either, these traits run quite deep and to a certain extent he is quite kind. The caring side of his nature just runs a little shallower than it does in most other people. He's very polite, to his peers and his elders, but this is mostly out of fear that he won't let show rather than genuine respect. He's very quiet and keeps mostly to himself, not angering or bothering people apart from those select few that tend to get angered by other people's existence. Hard-working and dedicated, he's very determined to suceed and is driven to do so. He'll set his mind to something and that'll be it, he's sucked in and won't stop until it's completed to the best of his ability. He leant most of what he knows about people and how to interact with them in books, and as a result is very guarded around some and very relaxed around others, and generally quite chivalrous all round.
flaws;
Finley is very angry. He's always been angry, and as far as he can tell, he will always be angry. Everything and everyone pisses him off, but he's the sort that will force a smile anyway. He's just subtlely rude to strangers, and snaps at the people closest to him, which there aren't very many of to be fair. He's always pushing people away, never liking to get too close and despises talking about himself. He can be quite viscious at times, lashing out verbally rather than physically, if someone does or says something that he doesn't like or isn't comfortable with. A little on the arrogant and self-serving side, he can sometimes let his own intelligence go to his head and is pretty much 'every man for himself', which he doesn't often let show but will occasionally say or do something that shows this. He's very meek and unassertive, having learned years ago that sticking up for yourself and other people returns bad consequences.
habits;
Fin's very jumpy, understandably as he hasn't had the best upbringing. Loud noises and sudden movements make him flinch away violently, and he hates being touched and will react violently to this as well.
He's been known to start shaking all over for no reason at all, but usually this only happens in his hands. His hands very rarely seem to stop shaking.
He's always flicking his hair out of his eyes by jerking his head slightly, which makes it look like he has a neck problem or a tic or something.
He's meticulously neat to the point where he has to tidy up everything to the point where it's anal-retentive, and is always fiddling with something and then neatening it up again.
You can usually find him with his nose in a book.

place of birth; Paris
date of birth; August 3rd
brief history; Finley was born to pure blood parents who despised each other. His mother was in a relationship and had a family elsewhere, and his father was much too busy with the Dark Lord to bother with anything else. So, he was left in a Parisian orphanage by his mother without a name for three days, until his father found out about his existence and came to collect him.
He spent the first year of his life in the care of his Aunt, who lived with his father. His mother didn't exactly visit regularly, but he still probably saw Madeline much more often than he saw Logan. Adalia, who'd fallen pregnant shortly after Finley's birth due to a one night stand, had her children and then decided that it wasn't safe for them to stay when Logan was around. She still tells him to this day that it broke her heart to leave Finley with Logan and take her children away, but she had to do it.
So Finley was now left with his neglegant father. This didn't start off bad. In fact it did start off bad, but in comparison to how it was later on, it started off pretty well.
Fin got through most of his infancy on his own accord, scraping by on the bare essentials of what he needed, apart from on the rare occasion where his mother came to see him and cared for him properly. He doesn't really remember this, but when he thinks about it, it sort of disgusts him. No child should have to raise themselves.
When he was around four or five, things started to get worse. Logan would start paying attention to his son and really didn't seem to like his existence. Fin kept very silent about the sudden torrent of violence and curses directed his way. There really was little point in keeping quiet about it, because everyone he came into contact with probably already knew anyway, and the only people he really saw were his father and occasionally his mother, and on even rarer occasions, one of his half-siblings.
When he was seven, his Aunt came back. He was relieved at first, thinking that everything would be okay now, but this didn't quite work out.
She moved back into the flat with her two children who were around Fin's age, and gave no explanation. Eventually, she admitted to Finley that she was back not because of him but because she was pregnant again and needed somewhere stable to live for a little while. Still trying to be optimistic, he figured that at least she'd protect him, but she didn't do this either. Logan didn't lay a hand on his sister or his niece and nephew, but still relentlessly despised his own son and actively showed it.
Shortly after his new cousin was born, and he came to the reluctant conclusion that his family wasn't going to help him, he decided that he couldn't take it anymore and left in the middle of the night. He planned to appeal directly to his mother to help him, to save him, but he realised he didn't have any idea where to find her and he had nowhere else to go, so he went back. No one had even noticed he was gone.
Things went on this way for the next few years and once he got to Hogwarts, he threw himself into his studies and work because it was so much better than the life he'd had before. He started to work out who he was, rather than the personality-less entity that he seemed to be at home, and realised that social interaction wasn't his strong point, but that he could be intelligent when he applied himself. He spent a lot of time in the library or in his dorm room emersed in a book and this is really as happy as Finley ever gets.
He dreads coming home for the summer and looks for any alternative. Unfortunately, his less than busy social calender and lack of any other options, means that he's always had to go back.
Or at least that's how it was, but a couple of months ago, his father was arrested and thrown into Azkaban for life. His Aunt is fully prepared to look after Finley now, and even though he doesn't trust her, things are definitely looking up for the first time in his life.
