eye colour; Brown
hair colour; Dirty blond

other physical traits; David has a habit of changing the way he looks as drastically as he possibly can every so often. Sometimes you'll see him with cropped blond hair, and others with his natural brown in the long-ish wavy way that he typically stuck to during most of his adolescence and early adulthood. He's not entirely sure why he does that, possibly to make up for his otherwise nondescript appearance. He's very tall, so tall that door frames can provide a problem for him if he forgets to bow his head slightly, but is built with enough muscle so that his height doesn't make him look scrawny, just lean and broad. He's one of those imposing generally big guys that people tend to be intimidated just by looking at. Although, he has a very easy and warm smile and it's very clear that he's about as fierce as a four year old when he grins. He does have one ear pierced, but gave up on wearing anything in it when he became a father and realised just how much small children liked to grab for things.
clothing style; Being as broad and tall as he is, he has trouble finding things that fit him comfortably, so he'll wear pretty much anything that he finds that does suit his size. This tends to be faded jeans and well-worn and faded t-shirts, as he detests going out to buy new clothes because it's such a chore and he can think of thousands of better things he could be doing. It's very rare you'll catch him in something clean when he's at home, because the age and general disposition of his children means that it's near impossible to keep clean.
On the other hand, he takes his career as seriously as he ever has, and is sure to generally make a good impression during the time he's at work or away with work, so he has a few smarter sets of clothes for when the need arises.
what i really meant to say[/font][/blockquote]
is that i'm sorry for the way i am.
good traits;
David is, much to his displeasure, very intelligent. There's no specific area in which he excels, he's just generally good at most things which he hates because he loves a challenge. Also, getting him to admit that he's even the slightest bit smart is a chore, because he's exceedingly modest. He doesn't put much in store for book smarts in other people as he tends to judge knowledge on life, and as a result very open-minded about others. Good-natured and kind-spirited, David really doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He's always ready with a laugh and his smile is so natural, that you'll be very unique to catch him without it. He despises seeing other people sad, and much as he isn't the most outgoing of people, he'll make an exception to attempt to cheer up a complete stranger if he comes to the conclusion that there's something wrong. Studious and hardworking, he always gives everything he does his all but tends to be quietly dedicated so is often overlooked for this. He doesn't mind at all, as he really doesn't like attention. Soft spoken and polite, if there's one person that clinches it for the 'chivalry isn't dead' argument, it's David. He's your typical gentleman, always holding open doors and being generally well mannered. He's a pacifist and believes very strongly in peace and non-violent protest, but there is no denying the fact he would fight to the death for his loved ones.
flaws;
David isn't exactly...shy, but he's definitely bordering on the edge of it. He has no trouble talking to other people and in fact enjoys it a great deal, but he's not one of those loud and outgoing types. Very self-conscious, he's always aware of himself and his behaviour and as a result has a great deal of trouble with loosening up and relaxing completely. He can be what others consider nosy, and he sees it as this way himself but he really can't stop himself from invading other peoples business. He hates when people are sad, and as a result with inadvertently pry into other peoples personal lives to find out what he can do to help even if his help isn't wanted. He can also be quite meddling, as he has a need to fix things, relationships and people and can't just leave them to mend on their own...he has this need to fix everyone but himself which he's never been able to see the worth in doing. David is one of those people that practically has 'doormat' stamped across his forehead in big letters and hates confrontation so will always back down, unless there's a really good reason why he can't or shouldn't. He tends to think things through for a very long time and is rarely spontaneous, so to balance this out, when he is spontaneous...it's in a big way. He's quite old fashioned with his views on people and as a result can be quite sexist without really intending to be, he just likes to protect the women closest to him even if they really don't need protecting. He's lucky that some people find this quality endearing rather than offensive.
habits;
He usually carries an elastic band with him to tie his hair back when it's long, because otherwise he can't concentrate. He's prone to biting his tongue or poking it out of the corner of his mouth when he's in deep thought as well.
He's very straight edge and doesn't drink or smoke, apart from on the very rare occasion when he'll have maybe one drink at a social event or gathering.
He does have a tendency to get quite wrapped up in his work, and although this is a far cry from when he was younger and his auror work was his only life, he still gets a little too absorbed at times which means he can be distant with his family or just not there altogether because he's doing overtime.

brief history;
David was born into a reasonably large and enjoyed every minute of it, even the fighting for attention that often went on. His parents were and still are decent people and took care of the family well and there was always enough money to get by. His childhood was blissfully uneventful and he grew up a very happy boy. He was always very close with his siblings, even if he is by far the most refined and calm out of all of them - it's a wonder he managed to escape the household with as much manners as he did considering how boisterous and loud as the rest of the family is. He's always been particularly close to his twin sister and his younger brother. Him and Zoey spent every waking moment together for the whole of their lives up until Hogwarts, and his younger brother was the closest to David in nature and also the only other Ravenclaw, so they spent a lot of time together too. When David reached Hogwarts age, he and his twin found it very hard as they were in different houses, but still managed to spend as much time together as possible. When she started spending time with her other friends, David started spending more time in the library, and Zoey used to drag him away to socialise with her and her friends - which is probably where David's sensitivity comes from as he spent most of his early adolescence around girls.
When he was sixteen, he started to date for the first time. The girl happened to be one of his sister's friends, but she didn't mind all that much as it seemed Hope and David were clearly meant for each other. By the time they graduated, they were engaged and Hope was in the very early stages of pregnancy.
Whereas David had spent his life a pacifist, Hope hadn't and joined the Order as soon as possible. David urged her not to because he was scared he might lose her, and even more scared that something would happen to their baby, but she didn't listen, so he let it drop as is his nature.
Their daughter was born prematurely, David believes this to be a result of all the stress and hard work Hope had been doing with the Order. It became very clear soon after Leah's birth, that Hope hadn't been as ready for a family as David had been, and he spent months juggling his blossoming career as an auror and raising his daughter while Hope resumed all that she'd been doing before Leah's birth.
Even when their daughter fell very ill, it was David that spent hours and hours by her bedside, rather than both of them as it should be. He's never doubted that they both loved their daughter, just that Hope was never there enough.
Leah died when she was three years old, and David started to blame his wife for everything. They struggled through for a year after this and then David had become too distant and they decided it'd be best if they just separated, so they got a divorce and that was that.
David left his childhood home of Ireland and his family behind and moved into a small flat in London. He'd had no problem Apparating to the ministry every morning from home, but now he felt like he should be closer so he could really focus because he had nothing left but his career. He was also a lot closer to his friends this way and thought that this might help him. Unfortunately, it didn't.
Nothing really helped and he just got deeper involved in the ministry and spent his all working there, throwing himself into every aspect of his work so that it took over his whole life.
That was, until he met Emma.
He'd known her for a long time, as she worked in the office across the hall, and he also knew that she'd failed her test to become an auror, but he didn't really get to know her properly until they ran into each other in the Leaky Cauldron, when she was at the very beginning of a pregnancy. They became close friends gradually over the next few months, bordering on the very edge of something more. Then a couple of weeks before Emma gave birth, David managed to get himself together enough to actually ask her out.
They spent two years together dating, until he finally managed to get himself together enough to propose and they got married three months later. Since then, they've had two children together and now live happily in London.
He does occasionally spend days at a time away from his family with work, but for the most part, their family life is a very happy one.
