I laugh slightly. "Might explain a bit about your family then."

"See? It all makes sense,"

"As do most things when you've got all the pieces," I shrug.

"See, Nathan was right." I grin,"The Speare's family is like a puzzle piece, doesn't work if you don't have all the pieces,"

"Which seems an odd metaphor out of context, but there you go," I shrug, nodding. "I'm happy to have helped prove Nathan right."

"Make sure you don't let Nate know that," I laugh softly, stretching my arms up above my head. I had never been one for sitting still for so long. "He's ego's big enough as it is."

"I'll be sure not to then," I nod. "It's not as if I ever speak to anyone from there anyway, but if I do happen to run into him I'll just insult him as usual rather than inflate his ego." It's not as if I know him very well. He was someone that I spoke to on occasion when I worked in the auror office, partially because he was sort of entertaining and partially because I'd met him once; but he isn't really a friend. My pool of friends has, I think, shrunk over the years rather than expanding.

I nod,"Oh and if you do see him, tell him to stop goofing around, honestly he's been working there for twelve years and I seriously doubt he's gotten any work done."

I laugh very slightly, shaking my head. "Oh, I think he must've accomplished something in all that time...." I say without much conviction. Even if I do run into him, of course, I will absolutely not mention anything related to the auror department, as I would think Maddie would know. But I'm not so ridiculous that even mentioning it now bothers me... much.

"I honestly doubt it,"

"Hm...." I shrug. "Well, they'd hardly keep him around if he was useless... but it is the bloody ministry so I don't know what I'm saying."

"Nothing good comes from the Ministry," I murmur.

"Mm... maybe a few things," I shrug, unable to accept the blanket term 'nothing' even for a place I despise.

"Yeah, I guess." I mutter, chewing absently on my bottom lip. Putting Logan away is a good thing they've done.

I shrug again, then raise my eyebrows slightly. "I didn't realize you had such an objection to the Ministry."

"Yeah, big objection,"

"Can I ask why?" I ask, tilting my head at her thoughtfully. It seems strange I didn't know this.

I falter slightly, no one had ever really asked me why so I really didn't have a reason. Kaleb had never liked the Ministry either, nor did Beth or Chase. It was just something that we discussed in my family. "I just think that they're worthless, they really don't do much to help,"

"Hm... maybe seems like it, I guess." I shrug slightly. "And I can't exactly say I've been happy with them the last few years, way they've handled the aftermath of the war and everything."
|
|
|

"The way they handled the war itself was horrible," I mutter,"The Deaths at Hogwarts, in the streets, even the Muggle World,"

"Well, they were a bit outnumbered." I shrug slightly.

"Still could have done something," I mutter."They did nothing until it got worse,"

I shake my head, not really knowing enough to say one way or the other. I can't even remember the majority of the war, at least not very well, and I really know nothing about the Ministry's involvement until the last few years of it.

"It's just stupid," I shrug chewing absently on my bottom lip. The war's not something I really like to think about anymore.

I shrug, shaking my head. "Suppose it is. But... well, it is in the past now... mainly, anyway."

"Yeah, past should stay past," I mumur softly, feeling bad about bringing the Ministry up in the first place.

"More or less," I nod, frowning slightly. "So anyway... back to the present then?"

"Yeah," I nod weakly, absently running my hands down my arms,"Present is good,"

"All right." I smile slightly, then gently tug my right hand out of Melody's as she suddenly starts raising it toward her open mouth, clearly not paying any attention to us. "I don't recall what I've already asked though... what have you been up to?"

I laugh softly, watching Melody,"Abby was the same, she tried to gum us to death," I tease,"Doing okay." Now that Ian's home again.
