Everything about this day seemed perfect to Hayley. Not only was the weather beautiful, but it was one of Hayley's few day offs from work. Hayley took the opportunity to visit Hogsmeade, which she hadn't been to in ages. Lunch breaks where never a good time to come because they where too short.
Hayley walked into her favorite place of all of Hogsmeade, The Three Broom Sticks. The drinks there were delicious. She ordered a butter beer, and sat down at an empty table toward the back. Hayley realized that for once in months, she felt truly alone. St. Mungos was always full of people and things to do.

"Finally time to myself." she says with a smile, as she looked around the bar. Jay had taken the kids to see their Uncle Jake and Aunt Maria saying that Shell deserved a day off. Indeed she did after this morning she found her favorite pair of shoes waterlogged by pudding after she put them on. Shell had to admire Violet's crafty work, probably learning the trick from Jenny or Zoe.
Walking over through the tables she catches a glimpse of what looked like a cousin of hers. Looking at the almost empty table, see beams seeing Hay sitting there with a butterbeer. It was still odd to see her all grown up now but it was life and she had to adapt. "Hey umm. Hay. Can I join you?" she asks with a faint smile.

Hayley was often in her own land of imagination. When that happened all outside surroundings were tuned out. Today she was thinking about this one patient at work with this terrible looking bite that was a nasty shade of green.
Hayley's own bubble was popped when she heard someone talking to her. More specifically, it was her cousin Shelby. "You can join me if you want." Hayley responded. It had been a while since she last saw her, and she felt a little awkward.

Shell nods, sitting down and asks one of the barmaids that was walking by for two butterbeers. She had been trying to lay off the firewhisky, but if she got depressed enough the trying was thrown out the window.
"So, umm. How's work for you been?" she asks taking off her jacket and glancing at Hayley. Shell wasn't thinking it was gonna be this awkward, even if they haven't seen each other in a while.

Work was a topic that Hayley loved talking about. Sure it was hard working, and there where people there Hayley disliked, but for once she felt that she was actually doing something useful. "Work is going really good." Hayley said with a smile hoping to stop the awkwardness.

'That's good then. Any cases that are worth mentioning?" she asks with a smile. The barmaid bought her the two butterbeers she requested and opens one of them. "A student actually admited to liking my class a few days ago, although it was a past student."

"Nothing really worth talking that happened in work." Hayley said with a shrug. To her, everything seemed normal now. There was nothing wrong with a patient that she felt she hadn't seen before. "Shelly, I know it might come as a surprise to you, but although astronomy might not be the most important class for everyone its not boring." Hayley had never really liked astronomy, but she would never consider it a class she disliked. In fact, now that she thought about it the only class Hayley ever disliked was history of magic.

"Okay then." she nods, taking another drink from her bottle. "Ah, but that's the thing. Most do, so I was amazed by that. Sorry if it seems a bit childish though." she says with another nod. Astronomy was always Shelby's favorite subject when she was in school, hence why she taught it. Even as a little kid, she would stay up to see comets fly by the mansion.

"Maybe some do find it boring, but don't blame it on yourself. If you haven't realized yet most people just don't like to learn." Hayley said. The only people Hayley had ever met who actually loved to learn where some fellow Ravenclaws, herself included.

She sighs lightly, but smiles. "I know, it's just frustrating when that's what they are there for, but yet they rather goof off and fail, maybe even repeating a year." she shakes her head.

"Then just stop getting frustrated! No one told them to goof off. Its their own choice, and they'll have to face the consequences. Some times you just can't change things and you have to let it be." Hayley said.

Shell sits there, feeling her eyes widen a bit. "Okay okay. I'll stop worrying so much about my students." she says with a smile. "So have you talked to anyone in the family lately? You've seemed to disappeared."

"Um." Hayley said thinking about this for a moment. "You. Just now." Hayley said with a smile. The sudden realization of how out of contact Hayley was with her family shocked her. "I've just been really busy with work." Hayley explained.

"Oh. Well. You don't have to be a stranger. Just stop by and have dinner with us. You're more than welcome to come Hay." she says with a smile.

"I know that, but you're busy, and I'm busy. Its just hard to find time to visit." Hayley said. Hayley knew though that wasn't the real reason. Even years ago Hayley liked to avoid her family because of all the family trauma. Hayley was the kind of person who was fine being left in the dark. Shelby didn't have to know that though.

"Well, like I said whenever you can it's fine." she says with a smile. "I'm sure the kids miss you Hay." she says with a nod.

"For real? I never really thought of myself as the kind of person that people would actually miss." Hayley said honestly. Because Hayley wasn't the most fun, or even the smartest, there was nothing to remember Hayley as.

"Of course they do. You are probably most of the kids favorite cousin." she says with a smile.

"Besides for being closest in age, I have no idea why I'd be their favorite." Hayley said with a slight frown.

Shell frowns as well, as she twirled her bottle in her hands. She hated how Hayley was always negative about herself. "Well, you play with them, you used to see them all the time as kids so they grew up with you in a way." she nods with a smile.

"That all comes with being closest in age." Hayley said. "I bascially automatically have to do that."

"Not really. You didn't have to come visit as often as you did." she says with a smile. "But you did anyways."

Hayley thought about it for a moment. "I guess thats true." she said. "But I'm sure any of the other cousins would have done that too if they had the time."

She shrugs lightly and looks at her. "I know Riley, Daniella and Liese came over a lot, as did Addison. Logan and Leslie once in a while, not the rest." she nods. "So, anything interesting happen lately?"

"I told you nothing, unless you count someone with an elephant's trunk as a nose." Hayley said. "And even that I've seen before."

Shell's widen a bit just shaking her head. "Are you serious? How did that even happen?" she asks twirling her bottle again.

"If chairs are now called elephants then yes he was conjuring an elaphant.." Hayley said with a smile.

She raises her eyebrows and shakes her head again. "He was conjuring a chair and he got an elephant trunk for a nose? Wow. Poor guy."
