"Okay now, tonight I want you to send Vi and Liese to bed at 9, and James to bed at around 8. The rest of you should be in bed by midnight or at least your rooms. Alright?" Shell tells them as she was standing by the stove with curlers and a dark purple dress on. They all nod as they continue to set the table.
Tonight, Shell was going out with Briar and Andra at 6. She hadn't seen them in a while and they decided to go out to the muggle world at some club that Briar heard of from when she went shopping last week. As usual, Shell was falling behind with time completely forgetting to make the kids their dinner and she was already pushing 5:45 with her hair, make up, and the dinner still had to cook for another 20 minutes at least.
"Mum, the door. I'll take care of that." Jenny says bumping Shell out of the way and stiring the spoon for her as Shell walked off to the entrance way trying to get all the curlers out, tossing them onto sofa table. She didn't notice but she forgot one on the top of her head and answers the door. "Hey Jake, umm. Haven't seen you in a while." she says softly, instantly letting her glaze hit the porch. |

Jake nods his head with a slight, but supportive smile. "Yeah, been working myself to the bone." He nods a little then looks her over. "Going out?" He asked with a raised eyebrow, but couldn't help but smile when he sees the curler on top of her head. He reaches one arm up a bit and takes it out gently holding it out to her with an open palm.

"I understand that. Trust me." she whispers softly, not sure if he heard or not. Seeing as Jay was the one that supported the family, Shell had fallen behind on the bills to the point where the power was turned off a couple times.
"Yes, my friends have convinced me to leave the house for once." she nods, looking up a bit with a curious expression when she felt him take something out of her hair. Shell looks at his hand and laughs taking the curler from his hand. "Thanks. Now I'm completely embrassed. I straightened my hair earlier so I had to curl it back." she explains walking back to the sofa table and placing the curler with the others. "So, how are you?" she asks leaning against the table as she played with the new found curl. |

Jake stood there looking down at Shelby. He wasn't sure what to say seeing as one, he could barely hear what she had said and he might have heard the wrong thing and two, what he had heard sounded very sad and bleak and he would probably make whatever it was even bleaker.
Jake walked into the house listening to her words, then chuckled softly. "You straigtened your hair to curl it back when you have curly hair naturally?" He questioned her with a wry grin, then shurgged. "Best as I can be." He said. it was true though considering everything that had been happening between Maria and then Jay gone. Thigns were hard.

"Hey. My hair is complicated Jake. If you get your hair to magically stay straight it takes a while for it to fall back to normal." she nods with a smile, before glancing up at him. "That's good right though?" she asks biting her lip. She heard that Maria had cheated on him, left him and then died. "Well, may I ask what the visit is for?" she asks turning around and looking in the mirror, putting on her eyeshadow and eyeliner as she leaned against the table. |

Jake chuckled and reached up to his hair and pulled at it a little. "Not much for me to do anything with," He smiled. Jake then let out a sigh and ran his hand through his hair. "I don't know." He shook his head, then shrugged. "I wanted to come and visit my favorite people." He smiled.

"Come on now. How can I be one of your favorite people?" she asks looking at him for a moment raising an eyebrow. Shell was indictating about how often she cheated on his brother. She was pretty sure he told him about that. "Well, I was going to go out, but I guess I can stay." she nods finishing off her make up and looks at herself in the mirror before looking at him again with a frown. |

"Jay loved you for a reason. And Jay was my best friend." He says looking down slightly, knowing that it doens't completely explain but yet it does in all the same time. Jake grins, "Aw, no reason to stay in for me."

"And I won't ever know why he did." she says softly before looking up at him again. "No it's fine. I'd rather stay in anyway." Shell nods walking over to Jake and giving him a tight family kind of hug. "Well, you can eat dinner with the kids... Dinner! Bloody hell..." she mutters rushing into the kitchen but nothing was burnt.
The kids all grin and rush over to Jake giving them hugs as well. "Okay all of us are eating dinner together tonight. Including me." they nod grabbing a couple more place settings and setting them down on the table. "You can sit there." she nods, to Jay's former spot at the table. |

Jake hugged her back and rested his head on top of hers for a few moments, then let go of her and chuckled watching her rush to the kitchen. He didn't say anything really because he couldn't cook for his life and he never would be able to.
Jake hugged all the kids best he could, while laughing. Jake nodded looking up at Shelby and grinned, but it faultered slightly when he saw the spot she had pointed for him. Jake had eaten dinner many times here over the years and he knew that spot was Jay's spot. Letting out a long breath Jake walks over and sits down in the chair as all the kids take their spots.

Shell sighs as well, the same time that Jake did. She moves back to the stove and looks at the green beans, mashed potatoes, bread and lasanga dishes sitting on the counter. There would be no way for her to carry all of that, so she picks up her wand and moves the dishes over to the table. The moment Shell walks over half the food was gone already and just laughs sitting down. Giving a small wink to Jake at the other end of the table she takes the potato dish and puts a spoonful on her plate |

Jake laughs softly and winks back loosening up a little and starting to get some food on his plate. "You guys being good to your mum?" He asks the kids.

They all laugh, but it was short. "Of course we are Jake. Why would we ever give our mum a hard time?" Isaiah says winking at Shell. "Do we ever mishave? Seriously?" Jenny adds, nudging Jake a bit seeing as she was sitting right next to him. Jessie on the other hand, just continues eating her dinner not saying anything.
Shell sighs, shaking her head at her but smiles at Jake. "Don't let them fool you. The whole lot of them are troublemakers." she says causing them to laugh. "We love you too mum." |

Jake laughs softly but can't help but notice Jessie. Jake nudges her leg with his foot under the table and lays his head on the table trying to get a better look at her face."hey...You...Smile.." He chuckled triyng to get her to smile. "I remember when I couldn't get you to stop smiling. Me and your grandfather swore we thought you'd grow up mad."

She glances up and smiles at him, only to laugh a few seconds later at what he said. "There's that smile. Haven't seen that in a while." with that however, it fades and Shell glances at her plate, biting her lip. "I'm going to go to my room. Just clean up after dinner everyone okay?" she asks softly, walking out of the room and into her room. Shell sits on her bed, glancing down at her hands before laying down on the mattress. "She hates me and she always will."

Jake sighs and looks over at Jessie. He knows why she doesn't like Shelby, and why she can't stand Shelby and he can see where she's coming from..But he just doesn't know what to do. He looks around and over to Jenny, "Make sure this get's cleaned up, okay?" He asks her then stands up following her. Jake stands in the door way for a few moments. "She doesn't hate you.." He mumbles.

Shell glances over at the doorway and frowns. "Yes she does. Who can blame her? I broke her father's heart so many times and broke hers as well." she says softly, still glancing at him before closing her eyes and turning to her back so she was facing the ceiling. "You should hate me too."
