I grin slightly, as I suppose maybe this does mean it's getting better and I just haven't seen it that way yet, "I guess so."

I grin slightly back, shaking my head. "He just had to... learn to trust you again, I guess. As long as you don't do anything stupid it should all be fine."

"I'll bear that in mind," I grin slightly again, unable to help it despite the fact that knowing myself, I probably will do something very stupid and fuck it all up again, but...at least I know that it's reperable. Surely I can't do anything as stupid as before again.

"Mind that you do," I say, raising my eyebrows at him. Of course, I don't think he's done anything stupid for a while now, with the grand exception of not telling anybody he was going to disappear.

I raise an eyebrow at that, not quite managing to fight back completely the grin that's comandeered my face for a little while. Of course, she probably has every right to assume I'm going to fuck it up, just like I assume that I will.

"This is nothing to laugh about, you know," I point out, ot at all sure why I'm so amused. Perhaps because he seems to be and I don't know why.

"Yes, I'm aware of that," I really can't remain straight-faced, and I honestly have no idea where the sudden burst of good humour has come from. It may have had a purpose to start with, but now it's just lingering on and I'm not entirely sure why.

I shake my head again, still faintly amused. Maybe this is just optimism or something weird like that. Silly us. I frown slightly all of a sudden, looking up and down the sidewalk. "Um... speaking of nine-year-old boys...."

"Shit," The good humour disappears immediately, as I glance down the pavement then back up again.

"Can't have gone far, can he?" I ask, inwardly cursing myself a bit for distracting him when he's supposed to be babysitting.

"No," I shake my head, "He's a coward. He won't want to risk going too far and getting lost." I take a hesitant step past her in one direction, glancing down the pavement again but not seeing anyone. It's probably because all these muggles are so tall and Daniel is so short.

"Then again he could be kidnapped," I shrug, knowing I'm likely not helping any but unable to stop either the worrying or my big mouth. "Or he's watching us and laughing."

I turn to look at her sharply at her first suggestion, but decide the second is far more likely and just shrug idly, "That's probably it."

I nod, pretty sure it actually is a bit more likely but still not entirely dismissing the other possibilities. "Do you lose small children often?" I ask, looking up and down the sidewalk again.

"Depends on which small child I'm with," I shrug slightly, "Daniel, yes, I lose him quite often." I suppose I do lose them all quite often, apart from Abby who is usually in my line of vision at all times, and Sam who can hardly constitute as a small child and is too mature to go wandering off, but does sometimes need to hang around with me as he looks too young to buy alcohol so I tend to help with the cause. Matthew's always wondering off as he gets so easily distracted by anything with an interesting thought process. Alex likes to scare me. Poppy gets distracted by loud noises, bright colours and sudden movements, so there really is little hope for her too. God knows why Daniel's gone off, could be any reason at all.

"He'll be back," I'm pretty confident in this belief, and if he's not intending on coming back then maybe I'll just...well, I don't know, but I'm sure I won't be too fussed until about tomorrow or the next day when I start to miss being annoyed by him. "Don't worry about it. He'd probably have disappeared anyway."

"Hm...." I shrug slightly. "Well, you can still always blame it on me if he doesn't turn up soon."

"I could do that," I shrug, "But it probably won't make a difference." Mez is going to probably going to hex me if I tell her I've lost her son. I'd have thought she might be used to it by now, but apparently she's not used to me doing that yet.

"S'pose not." I shrug slightly. It's best anyway if he isn't lost long enough for placing of blame to become a real problem.

Now that a semi-large crowd of muggles have moved away from some sort of display window, yeah...I can see him, being generally nosy. I don't really want him to come back over here though, so I think I'll just keep an eye on him from a distance until he gets bored and wanders back over. "Ah, there," I nod slightly in his direction.

I raise my eyebrows at him disapprovingly, shaking my head. "Just for that I may have to find out where his parents live so I can go tell them he got kidnapped while you weren't looking, then let you try and explain."

I laugh slightly, then stop, thinking of Lilith's probable reaction to that sort of news abiout her kids. "Hm... good point. Might teach you a lesson though."
