I frown vaguely because it's a bit annoying that he didn't say anything, even if I didn't say much to start with.

"You're sure she seemed alright enough to leave alone?" I asked again after a few moments of silence. Partly becuase of the silence and partly because I did want to know because I was still fairly worried.

"More alright than..." I shrug, "Yeah...I think." That wasn't exactly a brilliantly pieced together sentence, but I hope the meaning came across. I guess fairly sure isn't quite good enough though, and I should probably pull myself together and head back soon. Just in case.

I nodded again. "Okay.." I said, almost quietly, running a hand through my hair. Probably making it a bit more messed up than it was. But other than saying okay, I again, had no clue what to add.

"I should...I should get going," I nod after a moment, half-gesturing behind me. He's probably right...probably shouldn't have left her on her own. That was a bit of a lapse in judgement.

"Alright... Thanks for um.." I paused for a moment before continuing, "Thanks for telling me." I finished a moment later with a small nod.

"Fine..." I shrug faintly, then add sort of awkwardly, "Sorry, and all."

I nodded slightly then shook my head, waving off his apology. "S'alright.. sorry too, for whatever reason." I said, not really knowing what to apologize for, but feeling like I had to anyway.

And this is getting a bit...sort of...civil. Which is strange, and I should leave before it threatens to get anymore so. So I just shrug briefly once more and turn to walk away. At least that one's over.

This's probably the nicest we've ever been to eachother. It's sort of strange. Not really annoying, or anything, but strange. He walked away and I just left it at that, sighing slightly before turning around and walking back toward my kids and sister.
