I look at him in surprise then, because that's not what I meant, but.... "You think you'll stand a better chance of not getting caught?"

"I don't know," I pause, shrugging. But apparently that's now what she was getting at by how surprised she looks. I suppose I assumed it was, because if I get caught then she's going to get in trouble for harbouring a fugitive and she has every right to turn me out if she thinks that it's likely I'm going to get turned in.

"Well, I wasn't trying to imply that I'd like to kick you out," I say, frowning slightly. "You're too good a kisser for that." Despite the forced, semi-automatic levity, my tone doesn't lighten and I don't stop frowning. I definitely don't want him gone, unless it really does see like the safest option.

"Well, I don't particularly want to leave just yet either," I admit wth a shrug, glancing sideways at her wryly at her second comment because it's weird that she's frowing so hard when she says that.

"Well, good." I smile faintly, though somehow I feel like I shouldn't and maybe I should just kick him out before something awful happens.

"Hm," I agree, half-shrugging, because it really probably isn't but I don't particularly want to point that out.

I shrug back, then decide to go check on Micheal. There's one good thing about babysitting, at least - always something to do during silences. "Hello Arden," he says, not looking up from where he seems to have emptied out and mixed together every board game I have, making passage down the hallway rather difficult. "Is that man your boyfriend? Mum said you need one." I'm not really sure how to respond to that, so I ignore it and doubt that he'll notice. "Don't let Issy eat any of this." He nods, letting me return to the living room. At least he's occupied.

"Need a boyfriend, do you?" I ask as she comes back, raising an eyebrow in a vaguely amused sort of way. I don't leave her much time to reply either, before asking with idle interest, "What's he doing over there anywhere?" It's much eaiser to feign comfort when they're not in close proximity.

I grimace slightly at his first comment, then glance back the way i just came. "He's... being unusually calm, still, and quiet, so I decided not to question the details." I shrug slightly. "And no, I really don't, thank you." Issy glances up at this as if to silently argue, but maybe I'm so used to thinking of her as spooky like that that now I'm just inferring things.

"Good for him." Good for everyone all round really. Maybe I should revise my decision after all...neither of them are being particularly irritating or even that social. It's quite pleasant. "Ah, of course," I agree wryly, nodding.

"Hm," I agree, nodding, then shake my head almost immediately... even if I am slightly curious in what context this comment of Lilith's came up. Trust Isobel to read my mind about that. "Mummy says you're sad," she whispers almost inaudibly, looking up briefly before going back to giving her doll breakfast... or lunch, or whatever it is. I'm torn between replying that Lilith is a nut and that I've always been sad, neither of which is probably the best idea.

I glance over at Isobel, then instead tilt my head back over to look at Arden and raise an eyebrow again, despite the fact that this expression is becoming sort of overused.

"I'm planning to gag them in a second," I murmur to the ceiling. "Or maybe just Lilith." Granted, I can somewhat see where she's coming from, considering she and Chance where the ones who had to come and force me to eat and such after Travis died... but it's still mildly... embarrassing, I guess, to have my niece and nephew saying things like this.

"Maybe you should be more concerned over why Lilith chose to tell her children that in the first place," I shrug. Seems a little bit odd to me that she'd say that to her kids unless she was really concerned and expected feedback or something, and if that's the case then maybe there is something wrong.

"Probably because she thinks I'm sad and need a boyfriend?" I shrug. "It's Lilith. You've really no idea how many times she and Greg have tried to put me in a mental ward or something to be treated for depression."

"That's normal, is it? For Lilith and Greg." I'm not entirely sure who Greg is anyway. Or how your average relatives treat each other, so I wouldn't really know.

Post by Arden Patricks on Jan 5, 2009 16:30:18 GMT
"Mm... Greg is a tad overprotective, so Lilith tries to be as well," I nod, then glance at him. "Greg's the family member I'd be most worried about turning you in, actually, other than Fitzy, though luckily he's a Muggle so might have some difficulty finding an auror to report to."

I nod as if I understand, then shrug slightly, "Unless Greg and Fitzy decided to work together on that one."
|
|
|
Post by Arden Patricks on Jan 5, 2009 16:42:21 GMT
"Possibly, but Fitzy still is and always will be a coward who's more talk than anything else." I shrug slightly. "Greg, if he finds out you're here, will likely not care about magic or officials or anything else and just threaten to kill you or the like. It's just how he is."

"Well, as long as it's just how he is," I mutter, rolling my eyes slightly. I think this is possibly one of the reasons I've steered clear of anything close to a relationship in the past. It's never simple or straight-forward, and is instead full of families and friends and compromises and death threats and considerations and confusion and hiccups and fights and...really, it's probably better off to be alone. But...giving it a try anyway. Might as well.

I smile faintly at that for some reason, shaking my head... then notice that Isobel is staring again and shake my head at her as well. "Grandpa's not really a psycho, sweetie, just protective."

I laugh very slightly at that, so it's more of a brief amused 'huh' than anything. I don't even know why it was that funny either, a mix of the strange combination of words and the small one's expression most likely.

I glance over at Logan again when he laughs, then shrug. "Honestly, he mostly just narrows his eyes a lot and tries to look intimidating, if I remember right. It's been a while, but I think that's about all he did."

"Probably," I shrug, looking away. They have kind of heard of you though, so I don't know. It is possibly he would try to hurt you, and if so, just... please don't do anything."
|
|
|
Post by Logan Andrews on Jan 5, 2009 17:36:25 GMT
"I won't do anything," I shake my head. Although I can't promise that, I suppose. I'll try not to anything, but that's really the best I can do.

"Right," I nod, for once not doubting him too much. It's probably all moot anyway, but I'm just thinking ahead. I can't very well ask my nephew to lie to his parents and not mention Logan... and even if I did he'd probably just announce, 'guess what Arden told me to lie to you about?' So if they find out Meredith and Greg will, and that brings the total up to at least seven adults now who will know his whereabouts, not counting anyone he may have run into on his own.

I nod yet again and wonder if I ought to go check on Micheal again. It's mildly creepy he's been so quiet for so long. This is actually about the easiest babysitting job I've ever had, really.

"Are they...usually this quiet?" I ask after a moment, shaking my head in faint mystification. It seems I was concerned over nothing, because they're not that bad, I suppose.
